What is an ombudsman?
An ombudsman is a neutral party who has training or experience in conciliation and mediation that allows him to help members of the community with various problems. This professional specializes in confidential conflict resolution and facilitation.
The Katimavik ombudsman is:
Independant
He is not a Katimavik employee and receives no direction from Katimavik management. The ombudsman only reports to the board of directors.
Impartial
His role as an observer is intended to result in equitable and professional resolution of various problems when the parties have exhausted all other internal recourse available.
Informal
The ombudsman does not keep transcripts of conversations and destroys files 30 days after a settlement has occurred. The ombudsman is not subject to official seizure as he can not represent Katimavik and cannot act as an agent of the organization.
Confidential
All communications are strictly confidential and are separate from any other services provided by Katimavik. Find out more
